A tiny stand of Johnny Jump-ups in a summer garden gone wild.
What I now know is a garter snake, but did not know when we uncovered her accidentally. While cleaning out the garden club greenhouse for summer storage, we removed some pots off the ground. All of us quite surprised, but politely accomodating. She stayed put, we stayed away.
