stitch, paint, laugh
In September, Meleen and I hosted another pair of super-fun crafty getaways in Vermont. Both weekends were spectacular! The weather was perfection, the guests were lovely, the guest teachers and projects were amazing.
Like many other stitchers, I've always enjoyed the way that stitching promotes getting to know each other. It's easy to chat and stitch at the same time. Lots of deep friendships grow out of a few hours side by side with needle and thread.
The second weekend, we hosted Jenn McGlon from Noodle and Lou. What a blast we had making her little painted house boxes!
Just darling, right? Jenn is a fabulous creative and teacher. We learned lots of little tricks about paint and brushwork, collage and color. So much fun.
Both weekends, I led a shadowbox project using cigar boxes, papers, paint and trinkets. Wonderful to see the way that each guest collaged and shared personal memories with objects. A single button often has the most powerful story to tell.
We hit the tag sales and stumbled upon some good ones including a big charity sale! Adventures out and around for local color and sights. The covered bridge, the colors and sunlight weaving through the back roads.
We made so many new friends and delighted in reconnecting with those who return often to share these special days once again. Thank you, everyone. You travel from so far and take this brave leap of faith that it will be what you wished for.
I think I can say that it is.
It is for us, too. Thank you so much.
More to come about our sponsors and our next gathering in the spring.
