I'm almost finished with the banner and hope to have it ready to show you in full tomorrow.
We had a busy weekend with two big events in town that Andy has been working on for months. The Historical Society hosted an evening with Robert Massie, an Irvington resident and Pulitzer Prize winning author. His recent book, Catherine the Great was the subject of his talk and signing. I think he's written enough fascinating pages to keep me busy for a good many years of reading.
The next day Andy co-chaired the first annual Penguin Plunge for Irvington's Parks and Rec programs. Yep, folks jumped into the Hudson River. In spite of our warm winter, the water was plenty cold at 35°. Roughly 100 brave adventurers accepted sponsorships and took the plunge. Besides being a very entertaining day with costumes, music, a bonfire and great attendance, the Hudson River Shiver generated over $70,000!
Well done, Irvington!
