Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes. It was a lovely weekend here and yesterday Maggie, Toni (James's mother) and I went to the NY Botanical Garden to see their wedding sites. We were there early enough that we felt as if it was all just for us.

It was the last day that the Stone Mill House was open to the public. Exquisitely restored and decorated, it is now a special event site. I do love a rippling river, an old stone house and towering sycamores.

They were preparing for a big day of tours. All so elegantly pristine.

We wandered back to the Conservatory (ironically, built right here at Bridge Street when the property was an active factory) and enjoyed a fragrant walk through Martha's new Edible Garden, officially opening tomorrow. Fabulous.

The Garden is a special place in all seasons, but the September weather makes it all the more enjoyable. Wouldn't it be an amazing place for a wedding?

And Arthur Avenue is right across the way! If you happen to go, the bustling streetscape is a dizzying array of dining choices from door to door. James and his family (stellar Italian cooks on both sides) go way back in their loyalty to Mario's. I agree, that's definitely the place.
