How softly summer shuts, without the creaking of a door. ~ Emily Dickinson
edit: When I set this post on auto-post for this morning, it was a beautiful day like this one. Living in my own little world, the quote was just right for the image. Then Gustav landed on the Gulf coast and the quote, though lovely, now seems wildly inappropriate. Doors are banging and slamming shut all over the place in coastal towns and there is nothing quiet or peaceful about summer's exit there.
Here's hoping that the storm passes by quickly without devastation and that the sun returns to comfort everyone as soon as possible. Softly summer once again.
