Maggie and James moved apartments yesterday and are now within a few miles of us. His and her parents are delighted about that, but a bit weary from helping. What is it about that last carload of random, unpackable stuff that just sends you right over the edge of exhaustion? Off today to help with some straightening and uncovering essential items (and scrub that tub once more). The new place is a flat in an old townhouse conversion. Adorable in a vintage way- wood floors, tall sunny windows with deep sills, a small covered front porch. Not so adorable in a vintage way - funky bath, no closets, smaller rooms. But they love it and are right in the middle of a bustling town with best restaurants, shops and our favorite thrift. From the sidewalk, you can watch the sunset on the Hudson.
